How to use files in HEIC format? - ExcireMike - 02.02.2021

Files with the extension .heic or .heif are supported since version 1.1.1.

On Mac OS, the HEIC format is natively supported.

On Windows, the HEIC format is not natively supported. In order to display .heic files, the system must support HEVC compression.
To achieve this, one can install, for example, the following two extensions from the Microsoft Store:

HEIF Image Extensions (free, Link) andĀ HEVC Video Extensions (with costs, Link)

After installation, images in HEIC format can be displayed and used by Excire Foto.Ā
Images that have already been added to Excire Foto before the extensions were installed can be removed via the context menu and added again via synchronization.
