Which metadata fields are being used for location?
#1
I have my photo's reverse geocoded using both IPTC and XMP fields, yet when I look at the metadata in Excire, the data is listed in one place but not another place that appears first in the metadata listing.  I wonder where that data is coming from and how I can get it into my photos?  As it is, I cannot search by any of the location metadata.  Attached is a screen shot of what I see.

I have used both Geosetter and a demo version of PhotoMechanic to reverse Geocode.  They both appear to put the metadata is fields the Excire can't search.

The first "country" is referring to the country of the author that can be found under the "contact" tab. The country and city that you can filter by, are the ones that are referred to as "Photo country" or "Photo city" respectively.

I do not seem to own any software that allows me to put reverse Geocoding information into Photo Country or Photo city -

here is where my software is putting the reverse Geocoding information:

IPTC: sub-location
XMP-IPTCext: LocationCreatedSublocation
XMP-IPTCext: LocationCreatedCity
XMP-IPTCext: LocationCreatedProvinceState
XMP-IPTCext: LocationCreatedCountryName
XMP-IPTCcore: Location
IPTC: ProvinceState
IPTC:Country-PrimaryLocationName
IPTC:Sub-Location
XMP-Photoshop:Country
XMP-Photoshop:State

I put this data everyplace several bits of software I have allow me to.

More checking today and it looks like a “sync” of the folder does not reload metadata, you have invoke the menu item “load metadata”. Then it turns out that some of the geocode metadata I have fills the Photo location info. I might do some more experiments to see exactly which fields are needed as I have the same info in multiple fields right now.
