"Update Photo Data" is slow when updating to Excire Search 2. What can I do?
#1
When updating from a previous version of Excire Search to Excire Search 2 a re-initialization is performed. This step is referred to as "Update Photo Data" in the user interface.
This feature allows to continue working with the current Excire Search Database while your photos are being analyzed by our new algorithms.

Since this process requires a few extra steps, it can take much longer than a regular initialization, especially on large catalogs.

If you don't need to use the Excire Search functionality while the initialization is still running, you can speed up this process, by deleting your current Excire Search Database and starting an initialization from scratch.

This can be done as follows:

When starting Lightroom or opening a catalog for the first time after the update.
  • Select "Create new Database" instead of "Start incremental Update".

When the "Start incremental Update" option was chosen and the "Update Photo Data" is already in progress.
  1. Cancel the "Update Photo Data" procedure by clicking the "X" next to it on the top left part of the Lightroom window.
  2. Go the Lightroom Plug-In Manager (File→Plug-In Manager).
  3. Select "Excire Search" on the lefthand side.
  4. In the menu on the right, click "Reset or Restore Database".
  5. A popup dialog should show up. Confirm by pressing "Create new Database".
  6. Start the initialization process.
