How to use files in HEIC format?
#1
Files with the extension .heic or .heif are supported since version 1.1.1.

On Mac OS, the HEIC format is natively supported.

On Windows, the HEIC format is not natively supported. In order to display .heic files, the system must support HEVC compression.
To achieve this, one can install, for example, the following two extensions from the Microsoft Store:

HEIF Image Extensions (free, Link) and HEVC Video Extensions (with costs, Link)

After installation, images in HEIC format can be displayed and used by Excire Foto.
Images that have already been added to Excire Foto before the extensions were installed can be removed via the context menu and added again via synchronization.

I'm using the latest trial version of Excire (v2.0.0) on Mac OS Monterey (v12.5.1), but Excire does not want to parse my HEIC files, and is telling me that the file format is not supported.

Why is that? I would like to buy a license, because the performance of the app is really good, but not parsing HEIC files is a dealbreaker for me, as all my new photos are in that format :-(

The HEIC format is really not a problem.
In this case there might be another problem with your configuration. Please contact us via email to support@excire.com
